L’chiam

In my first year of college, The Patriots won the superbowl for the first time in a long time (maybe ever? I really don’t know, and I’m not going to use the internet to look up sports facts, because thats just not what it’s here for.) I don’t think anyone I knew watched the game, but we could certainly tell the outcome, because the streets erupted in Mass Hole Style Madness. My large headed friend Howie Kaplan and I decided to take it to the streets. The tenacious D album had just come out, and the song City Hall was in our heads, a little rioting was in order. But we really could have cared less who won, so we took a giant piece of foam core and wrote “GO FOOTBALL” on it, and paraded down the avenue. Cars were honking, thousands were drunkenly gallivanting, women were topless, newspaper holder things on corners were set on fire. That is not even a slight embellishment, its probably an understatement. I think a guy by city hall got stuck in a tree.

My point is, congrats New York, you’re not a bunch of complete idiots when a sports team in your area wins some sort of title. Thats the most I will ever write about sports, we now return to our regularly scheduled blog ramble.

Blasco, my friend, guitar player, and musical partner in crime, had a son Saturday. He’s the first person I know who’s sprung and offspring that I care about, so it will be interesting to see what happens. I imagine the baby was born wearing an awesome suit, carrying a small guitar and several effects pedals. We wish The Blasco Family the best, it’s reassuring to know that yuppies and ibankers are not the only ones procreating.

Also, who is this Joe Jackson guy, and why didn’t I pay attention to him earlier? I’d heard a hit here and there, but I’ve been overlooking some wonderful stuff. I just got his “Look Sharp” album, and I am in love. There are some obvious Costello comparisons, but he definitely holds his own. More on this as it develops.
